Preventing the rise of suicide rate

The international speaker for the 2nd Annual Forum for Suicide Prevention Policy and Practice, Carl Bell MD, Director Institute for Juvenile Research Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine University of Illinois at Chicago is a member of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention Task Force which revised the 2010 strategy to produce this updated vision.

Below is a quote from the Public Health Service Surgeon General for US who chaired this task force.

Most Americans are surprised to learn that between 2001 and 2009, an average of 33,000 suicide deaths occurred each year in the United States. Suicide is among the top five causes of death for adults under age 45 in the United States, and in 2009, more Americans died from suicide than from motor vehicle traffic-related injuries.
