Paul Mitchell has spent the last 13 years working on programs to improve fragility fracture care and prevention throughout the world. Paul has published extensively on implementation of Fracture Liaison Services and was an author of the 2012 IOF World Osteoporosis Day Report on the ‘Capture the Fracture’ Campaign.
Prior to emigrating from the UK to New Zealand in 2011, Paul served as an advisor to the Department of Health in England to develop policy and financial incentives to improve hip fracture care and reduce costs. He will draw upon this experience in his talk at the 2nd annual Hip Fracture Management conference, to be held on the 2nd and 3rd December 2013 in Melbourne. Paul will review best practice guidelines for hip fracture management on the basis of his UK experience. His talk will cover the development of the UK Hip Fracture Database and professional standards for hip fracture care. He will also take a closer look at the process of developing and implementing hip fracture registries for Australia and New Zealand.
Paul is a member of the board of Osteoporosis New Zealand, the ANZ Hip Fracture Registry Steering Group and, until 2012, was a member of the UK National Hip Fracture Database.
