Kate Richardson is a Pharmacist for eMedicines Management at St Vincents Hospital (SVH) Sydney
Kate is specialising in navigating the e-health maze to find solutions to ensure medicines and medication information is appropriately, pragmatically and safely managed. She has been involved in the implementation of pharmacy dispensing/inventory systems, smart IV infusion pumps with dose-error reduction software and the electronic medication management system (eMMS), MedChart® at St Vincent’s Hospital
Kate will be speaking at the 2014 Electronic Medication Management conference, to be held on the 25-26 March in Sydney. She will address how eMMS at SVH has supported an Outstanding Achievement for Medication Safety in 2012 (ACHS Equip5). Conference attendees will learn about audits undertaken, new implementations and error reduction strategies as the team adopt the new NSQHS Standards.
Kate has worked in retail, private and public hospital pharmacy and is a member of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. She is a representative on CSC’s Global Product Council, NSW HealthShare EMM Clinical Leadership Forum and NEHTA’s Australian Medicines Terminology Support Group and Medication Management Collaboration Program. Kate contributed to “eMMS: A Guide to Safe Implementation” published by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.
Kate participates in medication safety audits and research activities, with a keen interest in utilising clinical decision support to provide clinicians best practice guidelines at the point of patient care.
