Jon Patrick is the product development director at Innovative Clinical Information Management Systems.
Jon has been an expert researcher into information systems for 30 years, most recently at the University of Sydney. He began working with the health sector in 2005. One of his early consultancies was to enhance the Clinical Information System (CIS) at the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute, formerly the NSW Breast Cancer Institute. Since then, Jon has worked on projects to reverse engineer clinical systems to rescue data and load it into new systems. He has also developed significant technology in clinical language processing and leads the field internationally in the processing of clinical notes, pathology and radiology reports.
iCIMS has developed a technology where the clinical team takes responsibility for the design of the Clinical Information System that they have to use in their workplace. The advantages of CTLD are significant not only for producing a satisfactory technology but also for improving processes within a group of professionals. Jon will be presenting about the evaluation of clinical team led design for Clinical Information Systems at the inaugural Clinical Redesign & Process Mapping conference, to be held on the 9-10 December 2013 in Sydney.
