Whistleblowing is a huge and growing issue with many high profile cases illustrating the importance of clear, consistent and effective procedures and laws that govern whistleblower protection in Australia. With the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry underway, and new legislation requiring companies to have detailed whistleblowing policies already introduced to federal parliament, organisations more than ever need a clear understanding of the best approaches to take to manage those who speak up or speak out.

This inaugural Whistleblowing Conference in Sydney will reveal results from Australia’s world-leading ‘Whistling While They Work 2’ research project, led by Griffith University highlighting the most important things your whistleblowing policies should be focused on. The conference is supported by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and its supporting organisations, Transparency International and Governance Institute of Australia.

At this conference you will learn from our international experts involved in development of a new global ISO Management Systems Standard on whistleblowing whilst also learning from the regulators responsible for what your organisation’s procedures need to contain, under the proposed Corporations Act rules.

We will explore what is best practice and why effective management of whistleblowing is crucial to your organisation. The conference will provide an opportunity for delegates to reflect on current processes and improve on them.

THE RESEARCH |

Integrity@WERQ is Griffith Business School’s research and benchmarking package, designed to help any organisation measure the strength of its whistleblowing processes along with its ethical culture, climate and leadership – whether public, private or not-for-profit, big or small.

Involving more than 700 organisations and almost 18,000 respondents, the research has been supported by the Australian Research Council and 23 partner organisations including the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, CPA Australia, Australian Institute of Company Directors, and the Ombudsmen and leading integrity agencies of every Australian and New Zealand jurisdiction.
