The second annual Whistleblowing Symposium in Brisbane this year will outline what organisations need to do to meet new requirements for effective whistleblowing policies and programs, informed by Australia’s world-leading ‘Whistling While They Work 2’ research, led by Professor AJ Brown of Griffith University.
Supported by research partner the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, you will hear what ASIC’s expectations are under the Corporations Act rules at this symposium, and receive the first public briefing on ASIC’s new regulatory guide.
But while it is now finally time for the practical application of sound whistlelblowing policies in all companies, the recent Australian Federal Police raids on ABC and News Ltd journalists confirm the need for further reform governing whistleblowing by public servants.
International best practice and standards will help us understand how we fare in relation to the US & EU when it comes to whistleblowing protections, and discuss why public interest disclosure protections have never been more important in Australia.
