2nd annual Rail Technology Workshop
Developing a technology strategy and plan for the next 30 years
13-14 August 2009
Hilton on the Park, Melbourne
The Rail Technology Workshop follows on from the resounding success of the inaugural RISSB Rail Technology in July 2008. Leading rail into the future, this interactive workshop will focus on establishing priorities for the Australasian rail industry with expert domestic and international insights into technological solutions.
International speakers: Technology is an international commodity and the event will feature expert rail presentations from the US and Europe sharing their experience and future projections.
Case study updates: The event is an opportunity to learn from national cutting-edge developments across the technology spectrum from the defence, telecommunications and computing industries.
How do we get to a digital framework?
Take a leading role in shaping future work activities
Led by the ARA, RISSB and the CRC for Rail Innovation, the two-day event is outcome driven. It has been specifically designed in an attempt to develop a technology roadmap to satisfy the industry’s 20 year strategy.
What’s new and how will this event identify the future requirements for rail?
Active industry involvement is fundamental to the process of establishing a rail technology roadmap, so the two-day event will feature presentations on the latest technology and projects together with breakout interactive workshop sessions.
A new extended, interactive workshop format
Incorporating the lessons shared from day one, day two will consist of three breakout sessions on rolling stock, train control and operational systems and infrastructure respectively. Led by an expert facilitator, each group will report back to all attendees on their particular roadmap. This information will then be converted into a roadmap that will be delivered to the CRC Board for final approval.
Comments from Rail Technology 2008 included:
“Good sharing of experiences” “It gave experts in their fields the opportunity to present their work to various other members of the industry” “I gained valuable knowledge on a broad range of issues and learnt that no one group has perfect solutions for everything – we are all being challenged.”
