Australia’s cities are responsible for nearly 80% of the national GDP and 84% of Australia’s economic growth. Transportation infrastructure and utility is a prime driver in a city’s prosperity, yet remains one of the greatest challenges for planners and policymakers.

In its’ The Intergenerational Report 2010, the federal government commits $8.5 billion to transport infrastructure, acknowledged as “the building blocks for Australia’s future productivity growth”. Additionally, with the recent release of the State of Australian Cities 2010 by the Major Cities Unit of Infrastructure Australia, there is an increasing focus on developing infrastructure and systems which will create and maintain productive, liveable, and sustainable transport for this and the future generations of our urban environments.

Informa Australia’s 3rd Annual Urban Transport Planning, to be held in Brisbane on 17-18 August 2010, will explore areas of strategic importance to participants in the process of planning and implementing city transport and infrastructure.
