13:20     CASE STUDY | Difficult Ground Solutions (DGS)

The Rondout West Bypass case study will discusses a method used to reduces risk to contractors and owners, while providing accurate ground investigation. DGS features such as dual range cutterhead drive, high pressure grout injection system for face stabilization, and water inrush control are customizable and should be considered to be built into the TBM in cases of adverse conditions.

Power line communications (PLC) technology uses the conductors of the electrical supply to carry EtherNet data. Whereas traditional installations were limited to point-to-point PLC links, advances in PLC allow complex topologies to be deployed as part of the site's data network.

This presentation will give an overview of the drivers, challenges and solutions for the recent installation of a complex PLC network in an underground coal mine tunnel development.
