The inaugural Australia's National Seamless Economy conference will analyse the fiscal outcomes of creating a more streamlined regulatory system among the states and territories through an analysis of the effect of regulation, Federalism and globalisation. Have your say in this debate by joining industry stakeholders to discuss what really matters.

Increased globalisation and economic integration has had a significant impact on the growth of the Australian economic market over the past decade. However, as it stands today, the regulatory governance system has not evolved to meet the changes and challenges of an increasingly globalised economy.

Barriers and policy fragmentation between the Federal and state governments has largely gone on unaddressed resulting in an economy that is subject to nine separate regulatory regimes. Increased economic capacity through the creation of a truly national, efficient, sustainable and inclusive economy supported by seamless regulation will enable increased capacity and movement within the Australian economy.

The National Seamless Economy conference program will look at the impact of policy developments and changes within the regulatory landscape from both a political and business perspective.

Issues to be debated include:

  • The role of Government in the creation of a seamless economy
  • The effect of regulatory changes of Australian trade and consumer law
  • The impact of cost shifting
  • Vertical competition
  • Globalisation

As a delegate you will hear from a wide range of policy makers, academics and business leaders including:

  • Ron Perry, COAG Secretariat, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet
  • Geoff Fary, Assistant Secretary, ACTU
  • Prof. Bhajan Grewal, Professorial Fellow, Centre for Strategic Economic Studies, Victoria University
  • Prof. Justin O’Brien, Professor of Corporate Law, University of New South Wales
  • Jon Denovan, Senior Partner, Gaden's Lawyers

This highly focussed event will provide you with a unique opportunity to sit down with policy makers, business leaders and leading researchers to discuss the implementation of the NSE on Australian governance and business.
