Dust Explosions 2009

Many industrial processes and operations involve the use of powder and bulk material. Industrial dust explosions have long been a risk and with over 70% of powder produced by industry being explosive, the need to be aware of these risks and up-to-date on the latest preventative and protection measures for your organization is critical.

“Throughout 2008, over 200 combustible dust related fires and explosion occurred in the manufacturing, non-manufacturing, grain, and utility sectors. “

John Astad, Director, Combustible Dust Policy Institute, February 2009.

Many of these incidents occurred in the transport process; where bucket elevators, screw elevators, pneumatic conveyors and inclined belt conveyors where in the process of conveying particulate solids (bulk solids), that generated combustible dust.

The two-day conference includes a live dust explosions demonstration and TestSafe Site Tour - the tour will show attendees various dust and bulk solids related fire and explosion safety tests.

Pre-conference workshop, 9th June 2009 – selecting the right protection measures and reducing hazards. This workshop can be booked separately or in conjunction with the two-day conference.

Improve your operational safety, efficiency and productivity.
