Decentralised Energy Conference
New trends in distribution energy, embedded generation and generation-at-source
24th – 25th June 2010 – Sydney Harbour Marriott, Circular Quay.

Cleaner and more efficient power generation together with incoming greenhouse gas abatement regulations create opportunities for small scale local power generation. Creation of power at source is more efficient and loses less power during transmission.

The wider use of decentralised energy is a key solution to bringing about the cost-effective modernisation and development of the world’s electricity systems. Existing decentralised energy technologies can reduce delivered energy costs and decrease emissions of CO2 as well as other harmful pollutants.

This conference brings together the leaders in the technological development and implementation of decentralised energy projects.

The meeting will focus on case studies that will give you valuable and varied insights to take back and use in your own operations.

Here are some of the confirmed speakers and experts you will spend time with at the conference:

  • David M. Sweet, Executive Director, World Alliance for Decentralized Energy
  • Terry Jones, Director, Centre for Distributed Energy & Power, CenDEP (CSIRO)
  • Professor Tony Vassallo, Delta Electricity Chair in Sustainable Energy Development, The University of Sydney

Energy Storage Day
Enhancing energy infrastructure through the adoption of grid-scale energy storage
23rd June 2010 – Sydney Harbour Marriott, Circular Quay.

The Energy Storage Day can be booked separately or in conjunction with the two-day Decentralised Energy Conference.

Investment in large scale base load generation and the increasing volume of renewable energy sources, in addition to growing peak load demand, are creating instability in energy networks. Without energy storage technologies, massive investment is required to meet peak demand. Justification for the investment required into large scale new generation when the assets are not fully utilized is difficult, and funding harder to secure. Energy storage provides the balance between peak demand and excess generation to stabilize generation and more effectively utilize assets.

With energy storage a key component of the Smart Grids / Smart City Demonstration project and many different energy storage trials underway the future dynamics of the electricity grid are changing dramatically.

The Energy Storage Day will examine the options for energy storage, delivering revenue, minising waste product and maximising efficiencies. Delegates will hear from a wide range of experts and will get involved in discussions, topics will include:

  • Policy initiatives - Bringing energy storage into the mainstream energy network
  • Energy storage technologies as an integral facet to energy networks of the future
  • Smart Grid Initiative – Storage as an integral element in the intelligent networks of the future
  • Energy Storage - Improving asset performance
