The inaugural Towards Research Excellence Summit will endeavour to analyse and dissect the current environment surrounding the research sector in Australia.

With the release of the much anticipated Excellence in Research in Australia results and the subsequent interpretations from across the sector, the notion of research excellence and building research strength underpin the core strategic focus in advancing research in Australia.

The challenge in this lies in the implementation and execution whilst taking into account the various issues facing universities from formulating effective research policy and securing research funding to developing research infrastructure and attracting and training the best and brightest.

It is in this context that the summit will holistically address all these factors and more in the pursuit of achieving excellence in research. The two day event is well timed to discuss the ERA results after their release.
