4th annual
Social Inclusion in Education conference
27-28 September, Novotel on Collins, Melbourne
Now in its 4th year, the Social Inclusion in Education Conference examines the implementation of social inclusion policy across the Australian Higher Education sector and the impact and implications of student equity targets for universities.
The ongoing reforms and shifting dynamics in higher education makes this an essential event for the tertiary sector to discuss how government and universities are developing evidence-based strategies, to improve the presence of low SES and disadvantaged groups.
Issues to be addressed include:
- Reviewing equity initiatives both in Australia and abroad
- Examining the institutional progress towards student equity targets
- The impact of HEPP funding in achieving participation objectives
- The implementation of outreach programs and evaluation methods
- Exploring the cultural impact on participation and accessibility
- The role of pathways and articulation between VET and University
- The importance of inclusive teaching and curriculum design
- The strategies proven to attract, retain and support low SES students
