Telecoms industry leaders to debate future opportunities at Ovum 2020 Summit

Global telecoms analysts Ovum and Informa have brought together a unique panel of speakers at the inaugural Ovum 2020 Telecoms Summit, due to be held on the 30-31 October at the Sydney Harbour Marriott.

Telecoms operators are now in a position to be able to provide a myriad of new entertainment, content and ICT services. The Summit will examine these new prospects for growth specifically the Internet of Things; Asian Expansion; Mobile Differentiation Strategies: Cloud Services: Digital Media and Growth in Wholesale Services.

Malcolm Turnbull MP, Minister for Communications and Tony Brown, Manager Corporate Positioning, NBN Co will discuss the opportunities that will come from the National Broadband Network.

Other notable speakers include John Paitaridis, Managing Director, Optus Business, who will identify key growth areas in enterprise business for Optus. A special international keynote address from Chris Carey, Head of Digital Media Services Verizon (USA) will discuss the role of video in creating the next generation telco.

The Internet of Things and smart cities will be part of fascinating presentations from Dan Lloyd, Director of Strategy and Corporate Affairs, Vodafone and Martin Creighan, Managing Director of AT&T.

Ovum 2020 Telecoms SummitWith the proliferation of mobile devices, 5G mobile technology will be part of a presentation from Hakan Eriksson, CEO, Ericsson Australia and New Zealand and Stephen McFeeley, CEO, Nokia Networks.

The issues surrounding global security will be examined by Mark Hughes, Global Head of Security, BT (UK).

Summit Director, Jon Peters from Informa gives the rationale behind the event, “Telecoms companies are in the hot seat – they are poised to reap the benefits from consumer demand for online video, a fascination for smart gadgets and the fact that everyone is storing things in the cloud. The opportunities for growth in telecoms right now are huge.”
