The AusRAIL team acknowledges that the Australian rail industry and community at large, is currently operating under challenging conditions with the evolving COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation. From our passengers to supply chains across a global network of customers, these times of disruption have highlighted the even greater need to collaborate, offer support and use innovation as part of resilience and recovery.
In these emergency times, the rail industry is continuing to play its vital part in moving people and goods around Australia.
Now even more so AusRAIL 2020 will be the place to be! We are certain by December the rail sector will be ‘chomping at the bit’ to take advantage of the new information, technology and messaging that will be shared during this time of change.
AusRAIL 2020 will provide a platform for people to meet, collaborate and trade. It is bringing together those who design, build, maintain and support the rail industry – key industry and government stakeholders, customers, researchers, suppliers and our young rail professionals to showcase the industry’s achievements, capabilities, resilience and opportunities.
This year’s theme, 20/20 Vision for Rail, looks to build a clear vision for the future, examining opportunities for advancement and the expectations for the rail sector over the coming years. It will display the exciting new technological developments that are driving new future possibilities and provide updates on the ever evolving pipeline of opportunities, especially with so much stimulus starting to be channelled through rail in the region as a way to kickstart the economy.
In New Zealand, the government is investing a record $54 billion (AUD$53.5) in land transport over the next decade as part of New Zealand’s economic recovery. In Australia, industry is campaigning for similar stimulus packages to fast track infrastructure projects in a bid to ease the impacts of the crisis and already it is being broadcast that rail stimulus will be a “major component in $50bn Qld infrastructure spend”.
So, until we see you all in December, stay healthy and take care of yourselves and your families.
