  • The range of activities/marine phases in an offshore field development
  • Vessel activities, capabilities and new vessel requirements
  • Various types of vessels and how they operate, including:
    • Exploration and drilling
    • Drilling rigs
    • Survey
    • Floating production
    • Transportation
    • Installation and derrick
    • Construction/installation of floating production hosts
    • Pipe lay
    • Supply for platform and floating hosts/anchor handling
    • Specialist field support and operational
    • Export (trading tankers, shuttle tankers and LNG carriers)
  • Facilities and requirements for supply/support bases
  • Various examples of the marine activities in specific field developments worldwide

About the Course

The offshore oil and gas industry is very buoyant in all areas of the world.

In addition to the more traditional locations of operation, there are new regions which are opening up to exploration and production options. Oil and gas exploration and production, wherever it may be, requires the support of vast expertise and a wide range of vessels supporting those activities – at all stages of the exploration and development of offshore fields lifecycle.

The aim of the course is to introduce interested parties to the full range of vessels used in a field development and operation process.

These vessels include:

  • Exploration
  • Drilling
  • Transportation
  • Construction and Installation of Floating Production Hosts
  • Supply Vessels for Platform and Floating Hosts
  • Specialist Field Support Vessels
  • Export Vessels (Trading Tankers, Shuttle Tankers and LNG Carriers)

Details of the vessels’ design and requirements will be provided with case examples. The vessels functions will be illustrated by details of how each type is used in the field development activity.

The course is illustrated by detailed notes, and a number of CD Roms and DVDs. Discussion will be encouraged throughout.

Who Will Benefit

This course is less technical than similar programs offered by Informa Corporate Learning such as “FPSO” and “Subsea Engineering”

It is suitable for those who do not want detailed engineering analysis, and for those new to the field:

  • Companies and contractors working on offshore projects
  • All persons interested in or concerned with future energy supplies
  • Shipbuilding yards involved in the vessel construction
  • Marine bases personnel
  • Oil and gas engineers and other new engineers
  • Government and regulation officials
  • Energy and finance sector analysts

Testimonials

I enjoyed the broad nature of information presented and the way each subject linked together. I have gained a good overview of the O&G development life cycle as well as specific vessel knowledge… Extensive practical knowledge, real life experience to compliment his presentations. He has been there, seen it, done and probably has the t-shirt!
