About the Course
The oil and gas industry faces some of the greatest exposures of all industries, from upstream exploration, to production, to downstream refining and transportation. So what can the leaders of today in oil and gas do? Engaging their managers down the line to embody a real commitment that supports excellence in injury prevention.
The science on engagement: There is abundant scientific evidence (positive psychology) that positive and engaged leaders have more impact on job satisfaction, well- being, safety engagement, productivity and morale than almost any other factor.
This course is not about safety guidelines, standards and requirements. It’s about developing your self-awareness and skills to engage others to embody the resolute rigor and discipline that is a safety culture.
We aim to energise, motivate and encourage you, as a leader, by taking you on a unique journey of self-reflection and emotional awareness. We will help you achieve leadership visibility and engagement in terms of how your team understands and respects what messages you are communicating.
Our goal is to then provide you with the confidence, beliefs, tools and insights that will enable you to motivate your teams to embody a safety culture. We will help you learn how to create accountability and ownership around safety, and how to make behaviours ‘stick’.
We provide ways to coach and empower your staff, to help create a “one team” culture and greatly increased acceptance of the need for change. We aim to help you grow from technical (facts and figures engineers) experts to people managers, confident in your ability to engage with and influence your colleagues.
Set your standards high: Strive for an incident free workplace: Believe in the benefits: Empower others to believe as you do.
Who Will Benefit
This is for all managers in the oil and gas industry who need to build their skills in managing and fostering a culture of safety. These could be front line supervisors, shift managers, corporate leaders or those in organisational capability and HR.
