Currently perioperative nurses often feel as though they are facing some insurmountable barriers. Much of the workforce is tired following the pandemic. We are faced with staffing challenges, skill mix issues and have been asked to do more with less, and some of us are seeing the ‘passion for nursing’ flame in our hearts burn less brightly.

This presentation will look at some strategies to break down the barriers, endeavour to rekindle the flame, reignite your passion for perioperative nursing and remind all of us, not only how wonderful we are, but also what a huge difference our perioperative nursing makes to our patients’ perioperative care.
