overview

Join us in 2024 as we return to Brisbane for the 2nd Annual Queensland Energy Development Conference – The key networking forum for Queensland’s energy industry.

Back in September 2022, the Queensland Government launched the Energy and Jobs Plan, an ambitious and complex energy program aiming to produce 80 per cent of Queensland’s power from renewable sources by 2035, and funding several clean energy projects across the State, including the world’s largest pumped hydro storage.

The rollout of renewables has been held up by delays in planning, transmission and connection and commissioning, so what is the state of play after 12 months since the announcement of the plan? What has the plan achieved so far? What are the progress to date of the major projects? Have they started delivering the promised infrastructure and jobs? Find the answers at this event you can’t miss, as we discuss:

  • Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan – where are we at?
  • An update of the clean energy projects: wind farms, pumped hydro, large scale-solar, battery storage
  • Transmission infrastructure – supporting the transition of the energy market to a lower carbon emissions future
  • An update on the hydrogen industry in the State
  • Responding to the changing needs of consumers through the transition
  • Investment opportunities
  • The importance of community engagement, social license & integrated planning
  • The development of Queensland’s REZs

“De Brenni said Queensland was “on track” to reach its legislated target of 50% of energy to be renewable-generated by 2030, followed by 70% by 2032 and 80% by 2035.”
– The Guardian, August 2023

“When it comes to transmission, social licence is the most important issue we have to face. A near-total rebuild of the grid comes with challenges, particularly for the communities where projects will be built”
– Minister Chris Bowen, May 2023 – Australian Financial Review

“Only when renewables dominate the market will we see wholesale electricity prices come down permanently, so this (REZs) roadmap is crucial to taking real action on easing the cost-of- living through the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan,”
– Minister Mick de Brenni, July 2023
