overview

We are pleased to announce the Australian Coal Conference will be returning to Sydney on 16-17 August 2018 at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel.

The national Conference is a timely opportunity to examine the events currently shaping Australia’s thermal and coking coal sectors, as well as discuss the opportunities and threats facing the industry long-term.

After a few years of tough markets, the Australian coal industry is facing a rosier future with new projects coming online and brownfield sites resuming activity, as it is the case in the Bowen Basin. The industry is also undergoing a transformation with Rio Tinto exiting and new entrants set to shape the future of the industry.

This year’s Conference agenda will include:

  • Current state of Australian coal production, including mergers/acquisitions
  • Major changes within the Australian coal industry
  • Global market trends, including China, India, and the developing world
  • Current supply/demand trends and their implications for the future of coal
  • Opportunities and challenges in investing in new coal
  • How will the coal price evolve during 2018-2019?
