  • The key question for schools considering AI is not ‘Will we embrace AI?’ Rather, the question is ‘How will we adapt AI for use in our context?’.
  • Schools don’t need a silver bullet answer. They need a flexible, durable and rigorous framework to guide their thinking and talking so they can collectively develop a plan that they think will best serve their mission, students and community.
  • That framework needs to leave the decision making to those in the best position to make it – those who intimately know, love and are committed to the school community they serve.
  • The what, who, how and when of adaption needs to be decided by those leading the thinking and planning.

  • Explore a practical model where staff assess student work against a rubric, capture brief notes, and use AI to generate constructive, personalised feedback that remains grounded in human academic judgement.

  • Discuss ethical considerations, including confidentiality and the importance of augmentation rather than automation, ensuring feedback is comprehensive, individualised, and responsibly applied.
