POST CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS
FRIDAY 14TH OCTOBER
WORKSHOP A
Road pricing alternatives – Examining innovative solutions to relieve gridlocked road networks
Road pricing is vital to relieving Australia’s congested roads but it is just part of the solution. This half-day workshop will take an in-depth look at innovative and sustainable congestion-busting techniques and examine creative solutions to traditional road congestion problems including:
- How can we maximise the use of existing road infrastructure?
- What are the alternatives? Lessening car dependency through the coordination of public transport to make the commuter’s door-to-door transport experience as smooth as possible
- Developing and testing enhanced traffic management strategies (ramp and interchange configuration and road space allocation to relieve congestion)
- Applying smart technologies for smoother commutes
Facilitated by: Dan Sullivan, Operations Director, Transport, Hyder Consulting
1pm - 4pm
WORKSHOP B
Road Price Modelling
Workshop B is designed to create a cohesive approach to road pricing across the transport sector by providing a closer analysis of various road pricing models and how they could work within the Australian road network context. The workshop will identify practical actions to the following road pricing challenges:
- Developing and testing road pricing models
- How to plan for, implement and action various road pricing schemes?
- What are the legal and financial implications of particular road pricing models?
Facilitated by: Jeff Lassen, Director, Synergies Economic Consulting
