"In the newly-deregulated environment, marketers are demanding a land transport system which is flexible, cost effective and reliable enough to deliver up to 2m tonnes to port in the peak period. However, the current state of the rail network is unable to deliver this volume, putting more trucks on roads and effectively placing our $4bn export industry at risk of losing sales."
Dr Andrew Crane, CEO, CBH Group (30/04/09 LLDCN)

Australia is the world's third largest grain exporter. Covering every state of Australia, grain growers occupy over 20 million hectares of productive land and earn almost $6.5 billion a year on the world market.

A predicted rebound for Australia's agriculture sector and promising crop forecasts have heralded calls for urgent upgrades to the grain transport network. Now is the time of opportunity and action as Government and the private sector work together to ensure that the Australian grains industry has every opportunity to capitalize on these favourable times.

It's been over 18 months since deregulation and suppliers and traders are now in a position to strategically plan for upcoming and future harvests. Have your say in this planning debate by joining industry stakeholders to discuss what really matters.

Grain Logistics 2010 will examine grain freight supply chains in order to identify sustainable solutions to efficiently move grain from farm to customer. This two-day event will bring together transport operators, farmers, grain handlers, marketers and financers to showcase the best solutions for an integrated supply chain strategy.
