Stakeholder management: Why are stakeholders so unreasonable???
1. Internally, what is management comfortable with?
- What does disclosure really mean?
- What does transparency really look like?
- What is a governance structure that we are comfortable promoting?
- What level of control will the engagement team have on the operations?
2. We will build up a picture of:
- Who the stakeholders are; what they value; what their interest or concerns in the project may be; what their level of influence may be; what the points of leverage might be with them
3. How do we start having a conversation with stakeholders?
4. What level of control do we want to give to the stakeholders?
5. Choosing the appropriate communication tools and tactics to engage with our stakeholders
Discussion points will include:
- What happens if we avoid engaging with our stakeholders, particularly when the project is controversial or involves an issue sure to raise community interest?
- How do we meet our stakeholder’s value proposition?
- How may we evaluate our success in managing our stakeholder’s needs and expectations?
