Informa Australia is proud to introduce the 4th Annual National Cancer Centres Symposium to be held on 25th and 26th September at the Rendezvous Hotel in Melbourne.

The two day annual event will provide a focus on the development and redevelopment of various cancer centres across Australia and provide a close look on how Australian Cancer Centres have improved their facilities.

Speakers Include:

  • Professor Ian Olver, CEO, Cancer Council Australia
  • Gayle Salkield, Director of Nursing, Queensland Health
  • Violet Platt, Director of Nursing, Department of Health, WA
  • Mark Mitchell, Director, Billard Leece Partnerships
  • Professor Michael Bernard Barton, Professor of Radiation Oncology, UNSW

Topics will include:

  • Various models of funding cancer care systems – what are the benefits and risks of co-funding arrangements and are there other funding models that can be offered?
  • Smart fundraising – models, challenges and resolutions. What are some examples of organisations that have used successful innovative ways to support funding?
  • Design and construction of new and redeveloped cancer centres. What are some of the latest advances in the design of cancer facilities? What are virtual centres and is this model the future of cancer centres?
  • Workforce - Staff/volunteer recruitment, and the methods for identifying and retaining high quality workers. What are the ways for compensating the shortage of workforce? What are some examples that address this issue? With the emergence of new cancer facilities and increase in government funding – how can you recruit new staff?
  • The scope for cancer centres (innovation) – cancer survivorship and rehabilitation. Will these be part of the cancer facility or separate to? What are examples of cancer centres that have integrated these models successfully to their organisation?
