Informa Healthcare Series is pleased to announce that we will be holding our 2nd annual National Pathology Forum on the 24th and 25th October in Melbourne.

The pathology industry in Australia is currently going through a period of reform. With a landmark funding agreement reached in April this year, along with the deregulation of collection centres and changes to the legislation regarding patient choice of pathology provider in 2010, there is much to discuss.

This two-day conference seeks to address the issues affecting the pathology industry both domestically and internationally, and will examine issues such as funding, policy changes, the diminishing pathology workforce, advances in e-health technology, maintaining laboratory accreditation standards, pathology education, Point of Care Testing (PoCT), and developing a national approach to genetic services.

Just some of the key speakers include:

  • british-flag.gif Professor Kristin Henry, Professor of Pathology, Imperial College London and President, International Academy of Pathology
  • Professor Katherine McGrath, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Association of Pathology Practices
  • Associate Professor Mark Shephard, PhD, OAM, Director, Flinders University International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing, Flinders University
  • Mr. David Low, Director, Healthcare Equities Research, Deutsche Bank
  • Ms. Sarah Watt, Project Manager, Consumers Health Forum of Australia

Hear what our previous attendees had to say about The National Pathology Forum:

  • "Recently returned to health and this was a great platform to catch up on all the issues." - G. Lawrence, Sydpath
  • "It provided the opportunity to hear different industry perspectives, with the [aim] of a more consolidated approach." – J. Iles-Mann, Pathology West, SWAHS
  • "It gave me an overall view of the pressures facing more participants in the industry, as well as ‘how fractured’ theses participants are. It made me aware of the bigger picture." - S.D. Angelo, Siemens
